DAY 1 : ARRIVAL PALANGKARAYA - START CRUISE
Meeting service at Palangkaraya Airport and transfer to the Rahai'i Pangun in Palangkaraya harbor to start the journey. Cruise past the stilted and floating houses of the provincial capital and continue upriver along the jungle lined river, passing villages and orangutan islands. In the early evening, take a canoe through the shimmering black water lakes. Keep an eye out for proboscis monkeys, hornbills, red langurs and Brahmini kites. Return to the Rahai'i Pangun for dinner and a quiet dinner in the midst of the jungle.
Day 2 : MARANG – KANARAKAN
The Rahai'i Pangun moves up the Rungan River, passing the village of Tangkiling and the orangutan release island of Pulau Kaja, to Kanarakan village. Walk through the village with a local host to see how people live and work in these isolated communities. Enjoy a traditional village entertainment. Canoe ride in lakes and return to overnight near the village.
Day 3 : KANARAKAN – TANGKILING
The boat makes its way down stream, again passing the orangutan island and making its way to Palas Island. Optional tour Transfer by canoe to the BOS Orangutan Foundation's Education Centre in Nyaru Menteng. Accompanied by experienced technicians, observe baby orangutans behind glass in the
socialization cages and watch a film of BOS projects in Central Kalimantan.
Cost : US$ 25 per person donation to the BOS Orangutan Rehabilitation Project Transfer by canoe to Tangkiling Hill to see the village ‘patahu' at the sacred Batu Banama rock, and then to climb the hill for a view of the vast, flat flood plains and catch the sunset. Return to the boat for dinner and quiet mooring on the river.
Day 4 : TANGKILING – PANGKALAN BUN - KUMAI - PARK
Early morning tranfsre by private car to Pangkalan bun for around 9 hours to Pangkalan bun .Upon arrival at Pangkalan Bun drive to Kumai for 20 minutes board on the boat. The boat is a traditional Klotok wooden river boat about 12m by 2.5m with roof upper deck where you can view the rain forest as it glides by. The guide's team includes the boatman, borneoorangutantour.com a cook and expert guide. In the peaceful afternoon we will slowly explore the quite river by the klotok while observe the wildlife such as long noses monkey, long tail macaque, birds along the riverside. Dinner and overnight on the boat. simple mattress, pillow, fine meals, bottled "mineral" water, mosquito net, kitchen, simple toilet available on boat besides the familiar - helpful guides and boatmen.
DAY 5 : PARK - CAMP LEAKEY - BOAT (B,L,D).
After breakfast board the klotok to travel up river for about 2½ hours boating and then up a side creek to Camp Leakey where the older orangutans are reintroduced into the rain forest and also known as research center for Orangutan. Trekking through tropical rainforest searching for wildlife, wild orangutan, birds and other rainforest animals as well as tropical jungle plant. Back to the boat for lunch then witness feeding time at 14.00 pm for old rehabilitation orangutan given additional foods. Overnight on the boat .
DAY 6 : PARK - PONDOK TANGGUY - PESALAT - TANJUNG HARAPAN - BOAT (B,L,D).
After breakfast board the klotok to travel up the river for Pondok Tanguy, the rehabilitation center for the new ex-captive orangutans, see feeding time at 09.00am. Afterward continuing the trip to Pesalat replantation camp, See the process of replantation project or take this opportunity to hike at forest. In the afternoon visit Tanjung harapan rehabilitation center and witness an other feeding time at 15.00. Free afternoon program, we could visit village near by the park. . Overnight on the boat
(Free additional program : we could arrange the night walking on this place searching for nocturnal animal or glowing mushroom or just enjoy down the river at nipah palm magrove observing fireflies )
DAY 7 : BOAT - KUMAI - PANGKALAN BUN AIRPORT ( B )
Free morning program until time transfer to Kumai then to Pangkalan Bun airport for next destination.
